What is Fleet Telemetry?
Fleet Telemetry is a protocol developed by Tesla that allows authorized third-party applications to receive vehicle data through continuous streaming, via a secure TLS connection.
Unlike polling (periodic checking), Fleet Telemetry sends data in real time whenever a state change occurs. It's the difference between checking your mailbox every hour and getting a text message as it arrives.

Why streaming beats constant polling
Some tools repeatedly ask the Tesla Fleet API 'has anything changed?' every few seconds (polling). Fleet Telemetry instead streams a message when your Tesla reports a state change, so SentryAlert can push an alert soon after Tesla reports a Sentry event — without constantly querying the API or waking your car.
What SentryAlert does not access
SentryAlert receives the Sentry Mode events your Tesla reports over Fleet Telemetry. It does not access, stream, store or display your Sentry camera footage, and it is not a live camera or surveillance feed. Your videos stay with your vehicle and the Tesla app. SentryAlert is an independent app and is not affiliated with Tesla.
Privacy and security
The connection uses a secure, Tesla-approved authorization. Your data is hosted in the European Union, encrypted in transit and at rest, and never sold or shared with advertising networks. You can revoke access and delete your data at any time.
