Frequently asked questions

What is SentryAlert?
SentryAlert is an independent iOS and Android app that adds dedicated notifications for Tesla Sentry Mode events. Sentry Mode can record different types of events around your vehicle. According to Tesla's documentation, the built-in phone notifications are intended for specific cases, such as the alarm being triggered, an attempt to open a door or the trunk, or a sudden jerky motion detected. SentryAlert uses Tesla Fleet Telemetry to receive Sentry events from your vehicle and alert you according to the levels you choose in the app. SentryAlert does not replace your Tesla account, the Tesla app, or Sentry Mode. The app notifies you of events but does not access the content of Sentry videos.
How does SentryAlert deliver Sentry Mode notifications?
SentryAlert uses Tesla Fleet Telemetry to receive Sentry Mode events from your vehicle. When an event is received and connectivity is available, SentryAlert sends a fast push notification to your phone. These events can be simple detections, such as activity spotted around the vehicle, or more critical events, such as an alarm. In the app, these levels may be called Aware and Panic, and you choose which ones trigger a notification. This is the main difference with the built-in Tesla experience: according to Tesla's documentation, phone notifications are intended for specific, more critical cases.
Does SentryAlert drain my Tesla's battery?
Negligible impact. SentryAlert never wakes your vehicle ("Never Wake" principle). Data is transmitted only when the car is already active.
Is my vehicle compatible?
SentryAlert works with all Teslas equipped with Sentry Mode and compatible with Fleet Telemetry: Model 3, Model Y, Model S (2021+), Model X (2021+) and Cybertruck. Vehicles prior to 2018 are not supported.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your data is hosted exclusively in the European Union. All sensitive data is encrypted at rest and in transit. No location data is collected. SentryAlert does not sell any data. Your Tesla data, account, and subscription are never shared with advertising networks. You can delete all your data at any time from the app (GDPR Art. 17).
What happens if the SentryAlert server goes down?
Your Tesla Sentry Mode continues to work normally — SentryAlert is a complementary service. We monitor our infrastructure 24/7 with automatic daily backups.
Does SentryAlert work outside of Europe?
Yes. The app works everywhere Tesla and Fleet Telemetry are available. Your data remains hosted in the European Union regardless of your country.
Can I use SentryAlert on Android?
SentryAlert is available on iPhone (iOS 17+) and Android. Download it on the App Store or Google Play.
Is SentryAlert affiliated with Tesla?
No. SentryAlert is an independent product developed by EI ROMAIN COUZON. Tesla, Sentry Mode, and Fleet Telemetry are registered trademarks of Tesla, Inc.
How do I install SentryAlert?
Download the app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), sign in with your Tesla account, select your vehicle, and follow the setup guide (about 5 minutes). A 7-day free trial is included.
Does SentryAlert replace the Tesla app?
No. SentryAlert is a companion app, not a replacement. It adds dedicated push notifications for Sentry Mode events and works alongside the Tesla app and your Tesla account, which you keep using as usual.
Does SentryAlert access my Sentry Mode videos?
No. SentryAlert notifies you when your Tesla reports a Sentry Mode event, but it does not access, store, or display Sentry video footage. Your videos stay with your vehicle and the Tesla app.
How fast are SentryAlert notifications?
When your Tesla reports a Sentry Mode event and connectivity is available, SentryAlert sends a fast push notification to your phone. SentryAlert receives events through Tesla Fleet Telemetry, a continuous streaming protocol, so alerts arrive in near real time. Actual timing depends on your vehicle's connectivity and your mobile network.
Does SentryAlert use Tesla Fleet Telemetry?
Yes. SentryAlert uses Tesla Fleet Telemetry — Tesla's real-time vehicle data streaming system — to receive Sentry Mode events after you connect your Tesla account. SentryAlert is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Tesla.
